Metal Sculpture 7 foot 3 inch tall floor lamp with a 12" X 12" foot print. Painted with a custom mixed white and blue pearl essence gloss paint. You can see the blue highlights in the "off" photo on the high spots of the sculpture.
The perforated drums that make up the 6 sections are automobile transmission parts, hence the title Light Transmission. Each section contains a standard mediumsocket with an LED light bulb. Built into the base of the lamp is a on-off and dimmer switch. Each of the bulbs is rated at full "on" 60 watts each, but being LED's they use only 34 watts combined total. With the installed dimmer the lighting can be adjusted for desired brightness. When turned to full brightness the 6 LED bulbs put out the equivalent to 360 Watts or 3000 Lumens. In the photo at left the light was set at 1/2 power. In the two photos below the left one is off and the right is full on.
Except for the 6 transmission drums all of the other metal parts were hand fabricated to make this one of a kind floor lamp. All of the light bulbs are replaceable and are common off the shelf inexpensive items. The LED's should last years. This is truly a one of a kind metal sculpture. Solar Prominence Metal Sculpture

This is the artists’ sixth metal sculpture in his Solar themed series. 6’ 4” (76” on an 11 ¼” round base) the sculpture weighs 47 lbs. Bronze paint
The large 15” metal disc at the top is representative of the sun, the 10 rings, with five on each side depict Solar Prominences. Total width at the top is 22 ½”. The sculpture is assembled from 60 metal rings welded on end in a balancing appearance. 75 precisely welded pieces in total comprise this unique work of art.
A Solar Prominence is a large, bright, gaseous feature extending outward from the Sun's surface, often in a loop shape. Prominences are anchored to the Sun's surface in the photosphere, and extend outwards into the Sun's corona. While the corona consists of extremely hot ionized gases, known as plasma, which do not emit much visible light, prominences contain much cooler plasma. The prominence plasma is typically a hundred times cooler and denser than the coronal plasma. A prominence forms over timescales of about a day, and prominences may persist in the corona for several weeks or months.
